Counties Manukau Police Adult Sexual Abuse Team is investigating a serious rape that happened on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 11.00pm, a 19 year old female was sitting on a seat in a reserve situated between Frobisher Way and Roscommon Road Manurewa. She was approached by four males, one of whom sat beside her and tried to make conversation with her.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Townsend said, "The male tried to talk to the female and proceeded to put his hand up her skirt."

The male continued with the indecent act by carrying the female to bushes within the reserve, putting her on the ground and raping her.

"The male kept his hand over her mouth throughout the attack. Once he finished, he ran away with the three other males who were watching the attack," said Mr Townsend.

The victim described the male as aged around 19years old, approximately 5’5 tall with a Samoan accent. He was clean shaven and wearing blue coloured jean shorts, a black t shirt, and a black and yellow 'Steelers' cap. The female victim was unable to provide descriptions of the other three males.

Members of the public who may have information relating to this incident are urged to call police. Detective Sergeant Andrew Townsend can assist, he is contactable on 09 353 0023 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
