The family of Dr Ralph Saxe who was killed in a plane crash in Feilding on Monday (23 January) have issued the following statements.

On behalf of Ralph Saxe's family in New Zealand:

"We would like to express our deep gratitude for the overwhelming support we are receiving from so many friends and the wider community both nationally and internationally. We are devastated by the loss of our larger-than-life, most precious family man, who we will never forget. Funeral arrangements will be released when available. With sadness and gratitude Joanne, Esleigh, Monique, Justin and Philnie."

On behalf of Ralph's immediate family in South Africa:

"It is with deep regret that we were informed of the tragic loss of our son, father and brother, Dr Ralph Saxe. Ralph was a rock to all; our idol, our hero and much loved by all who came into contact with him. No matter what Ralph pursued he did so with a passion, and his zest for life was unbelievable. A devoted father to his daughter Esleigh Saxe; a true family man like no other. As the oldest son we could not be prouder and the love he has shown to us, Esleigh and his siblings was an inspiration to us all. He lived life to the fullest. The void his loss has created in our family will be impossible to fill. Ronald and Amor Saxe (parents), Clive Saxe (brother) and Leighshe Hodson (sister)."

The family of Dr Ralph Saxe have requested some privacy at this difficult time.
