Residents who have liquefaction on their property have until Tuesday, 31 January to place the silt on the road for collection.

The Christchurch City Council is advising residents throughout Christchurch to place silt on the roadside so that it can be collected by the 31 January closing date, after which, the disposal of silt becomes the responsibility of the resident.

The Council also advises that silt will not be collected if it contains construction debris such as bricks or vegetation material, as this involves a different disposal method.

While earthquake-damaged roads and pathways throughout Christchurch continue to be repaired, the Council advises that silt found in assets such as drains or on footpaths will continue to be cleared and removed until the repairs are completed.

The Council recommends residents call (03) 941 8999 once they have placed silt out for collection. This will ensure the silt is removed from their residential area.
