Christchurch City Council Extraordinary Meeting

The following resolutions were passed at today’s extraordinary Council meeting:

1. That the Council accept an invitation from the Minister of Local Government to appoint a Crown Observer to assist the Christchurch City Council address its governance/management issues and help ensure it is functioning well so as to support Christchurch’s earthquake recovery.

2. Communications Review/Audit:

(i) That the Council notes that the next step in the Communications Audit and Review process is a report to the Communications Sub-Committee to consider the terms of reference and make appropriate recommendations to Council.

(ii) That the Council’s legal staff are to advise what steps the Council would need to take to terminate the contract, if it was of a mind to do so, and what compensation might be payable to the contractor.
