Wellington Police have this morning assisted Wellington City Council (WCC) staff to move on the Occupy Wellington group from Civic Square.

Acting Wellington Area Commander Detective Inspector Soni Malaulau says at around 6:30am this morning, the WCC enforced its bylaw that prohibits camping in a public space.

Police assisted WCC staff to maintain law and order and to keep the peace.

"Police are grateful to the occupiers for their full cooperation this morning. It is pleasing to note that no arrests were made and occupiers left Civic Square without incident."
