The Screen Industry in New Zealand: 2006 report was released by Statistics New Zealand today. Thisfollows the release of high level results in June 2007.

It provides additional analysis on the nature of screenactivities in New Zealand and measures changes from the previous year.

The latest report is the second ina series about the New Zealand screen industry.In the 2006 financial year the industry remained stable, with gross revenue of $2,542 million, a 2 percentdecrease from the previous year.

Screen industry businesses paid a total of $314 million in salaries andwages to employees in the 2006 financial year, an increase of 13 percent from the 2005 figure of $277million.

Analysis has been carried out looking at screen industry business revenue in the 2005 financial yearcompared with 2006.

Seventy percent of the businesses that earned between $1 million and $9.9 million in2005 also earned that in 2006, while earnings for 7 percent of those businesses decreased to between $0.5million and $0.9 million.

Furthermore, for 10 percent of businesses revenue has increased to between $10million and $49.9 million.

The report contains previously unreleased information on revenue and expenditure, labour andemployment, growth and development, and longitudinal analysis on revenue.
