WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are investigating a robbery which occurred last night in an alleyway connecting Victoria and Edward Streets in the central city.

Detective Sergeant Corey Watts of the Wellington CIB says at about 10.30pm, the 18-year-old male victim was violently assaulted and robbed of his possessions by at least two males.

"The men are both described as male Maori, around 25 years old. One of the offenders was tall and of large build, with bald hair and was wearing a tidy button down collared shirt with blue and white checks. He also had a square shaped cubic zirconia earring in his right ear."

Detective Sergeant Watts says the other offender has been described as taller than his co-offender, of thin build.

"A third man who was also in the vicinity at the time of the alleged incident is described as being short, of thin build. He was wearing a black cap and hooded sweatshirt. He had long curly hair protruding from under his cap and had large headphones around his neck."

Corey Watts says the victim received a broken nose, broken teeth, cuts, swelling and bruising to the back of his head, face and mouth, which required hospitalisation. The victim has since been discharged.

He says Police would like to hear from anyone who either witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area of Victoria and Edward Streets between 10 and 11pm last night.
