Progress results for the Burwood-Pegasus by-election show Peter Beck is the highest polling candidate to represent the Burwood-Pegasus Ward as a Ward Councillor.

Voting in the by-election closed at 12 noon today (Friday, 10 February). This result is based upon 34.03% of returned voting papers. The progress result does not include some special votes returned today before voting closed.

Nine candidates – Peter Beck, Steve Burke, Rod Cameron, David East, Raymond Ellwood, Stan Tawa, Linda Stewart, Rik Tindall and Bob Tomkins – stood for the position of Burwood-Pegasus Ward Councillor in the by-election.

The by-election was required for a new Ward Councillor following last year’s resignation of Christchurch City Councillor Chrissie Williams.

According to the progress result, 13,543 votes were received in total – 4,636 votes were received for Peter Beck; 2,753 for David East; 1,619 for Stan Tawa; 1,457 for Rod Cameron; 1,442 for Linda Stewart; 643 for Steve Burke; 455 for Rik Tindall; 436 for Bob Tomkins and 56 for Raymond Ellwood.
