Multiple championship winner of the Bridgestone Porsche series and former single seater driver Bill Farmer, the only kiwi team owner/driver to tackle the 24 hours Le Mans race, has purchased the Autonews VE2 Holden Commodore and V8ST franchise as part of FRS’ [Farmer Racing Services] plan to run two car Holden Commodore V8STs in 2013.

Farmer said; “I love the V8ST concept and jumped at the chance to take over ownership of Kayne Scott’s “PEAK MOTOR OIL” entry, which will be the first of our planned two car FRS team by 2013.

“Kayne will be our lead driver, and with his help I am also looking to give an up and coming young driver a chance to learn his or her craft alongside him for the V8ST endurance series, before running the full 2013 V8ST Series, in our second car.

“I am also excited to be part of the Smits Group’s plans to launch PEAK OIL here in the New Zealand market place with Kayne and FRS. Fans of Indycar racing and Danica Patrick, in particular, will be very familiar with the name PEAK and their magnificent Indy car trophies. PEAK are also personal sponsors of Danica.

“We have not made contact with Danica’s management team as yet, but for sure it would be a dream come true if she were to race an Aussie V8 at Surfers Paradise this year, and was then available a week later for the “Christchurch City 500K International Series” at the Powerbuilt Raceway. She is a very busy lady, but hey, never say never in this business,” said Farmer.

Kayne Scott, who enjoyed a successful test in the car at Hampton Downs on February 10th explained: “I was beginning to think I might miss out on the start of the inaugural V8 SuperTourers season, when out of the blue popped Bill Farmer. It's fantastic that it’s all come together even at this very late hour.

“Whilst I am excited to be joining my new team, I am also sad to see the end of the great partnership I enjoyed with Mark Petch Motorsports and one that's been such a huge part of my life. Both my wife Kelly I share very fond memories of all the many years I raced for Mark and his wife Bobi. We won so many races and nine national championships and raced successfully in both Australia and America. It’s been a great journey and I wish to thank both Mark and Bobi for the faith in me and the support they have given both Kelly and I.

“Mark told me of his decision to close MPM a couple of years so that he could focus on his dream, and despite the odds, largely through his determination and shear bloody mindedness, V8 SuperTourers has become a reality.”

On the launch of the PEAK name in New Zealand, Darlene Smit explained: “We are extremely excited to be launching such an iconic American automotive product range as PEAK here in New Zealand in association with Kayne and Bill Farmer’s new V8ST team, FRS. We know Kayne is a winner in just about anything he has ever raced and we are proud to be supporting him at FRS; we wish Kayne and his new team, every success. It’s exciting times.”
