Current leader of the BNT NZV8s National Championship and without a doubt one of New Zealand's most popular drivers - Angus Fogg is about to get his first taste of a V8 SuperTourer.

"Foggy" – as he is known to his legions of fans - will get behind the wheel of the V8ST Holden VE2 Commodore prototype at the opening round of the inaugural V8 SuperTourers Championship Series this weekend. Foggy will test the prototype on Friday and will then be giving superfast hot lap rides to some very lucky passengers over the weekend.

“Angus is the perfect person to give our hot lap passengers the thrill of their lives,” said V8 SuperTourer CEO Paul Radisich.

“He’s a household name, hugely popular and also on the hit list of at least two of our V8 SuperTourer teams for our Enduro Series. It’s great to have yet another New Zealand Champion join our growing ranks in V8 SuperTourers and it would be great to see him running this season.”

Foggy’s on for a busy weekend at Hampton Downs as he will also be racing in Central Muscle Cars as well as driving the prototype SuperTourer. “I am definitely fizzed up at the chance to do some mileage in this 575bhp beast.” he said.

“They look and sound awesome, and I am very keen to get into the series in the near future. It’s true that I have had a couple of offers to do the V8ST enduros, but I would love to be driving my own V8ST, which I am working hard to make happen. First and foremost though, I want to complete the task of adding the country’s official premier class Championship to my Trophy case. We are 126 points ahead going into the final round at Taupo, so I need to keep my head down and stay focussed on that objective.

“Paul told me that if I "bend it this weekend I own it" so that’s a thought to hold onto!

“But seriously, I am looking forward to this weekend immensely and Hampton Downs is one of my favourite tracks. It’s a massive weekend for motorsport in this country. Everyone knows that and it’s brilliant to be a part of it in the Central Muscle Cars and with the prototype runs.”
