Mid Canterbury river rating districts – meetings coming up for ratepayers

CANTERBURY

Ratepayers in the Selwyn and Ashburton districts have the opportunity to have their say on flood protection and land drainage for their properties. Environment Canterbury is holding a series of public meetings over the next month to elect new river and drainage liaison committees and discuss works programmes, budgets and rating levels for the next 12 months. River rating liaison committees serve for three years, usually meeting annually in March.

The following ratepayer meetings are planned:

Thursday, March 1, Dry Creek Rating District, Methven A & P Rooms, Methven, 10:30am

Thursday, March 1, Mt Harding Creek Rating District, Property of Ray McIntosh, 125 Springfield Road, Methven , 1.30pm

Tuesday, March 6, Lower Hinds River Rating District, Hinds Community Centre, 7:30pm

Wednesday, March 7, Lower Rakaia River Rating District, St Andrews Church Hall, Rakaia, 7:30pm

Tuesday, March 13, North Rakaia River Rating District, Rakaia War Memorial Community Hall, Supper Room, Cnr Elizabeth Ave and Mackie Street, 7:30pm

Wednesday, March 14, Ashburton Hinds Drainage Rating District, Eiffelton Hall, 7:30pm

Tuesday, March 20, Ashburton Rivers Rating District, Ashburton Trust Event Centre, 211a Wills Street, Ashburton, 7:30pm

Wednesday, March 21, Selwyn River Rating District, Lincoln Events Centre, Habgood Lounge, Meijer Drive, Lincoln, 7:30pm
