Council has begun works on hotmixing three sections of the Riverside Walkway upstream of the Fitzherbert Bridge which currently have a gravel surface.

The works are expected to be completed by late March 2012. Users are advised to expect some inconvenience while the works take place and to take particular care around the construction zones. Wherever possible Council will maintain a through route during the construction period.

The 3km of new seal will 'fill the gaps' between the existing sealed sections to provide a continuous 3m wide sealed walkway extending for 6.5km from the Victoria Esplanade through to the Napier Road Drain Footbridge.

For any information about the works programme please contact Jeff Baker, Leisure Assets Planner'.
