Community Preparedness Grant
Community Preparedness Grants close at the end of next month - so get applying for a project to help your neighbours get to know each other and build a stronger, more resilient community. The fund was established last year in a bid to encourage Wellingtonians to get to know each other better, and be willing to help one another when things go wrong - especially in the event of an emergency.

The Houghton Valley community received a $4,715 grant from us to go towards several initiatives such as a 'welcome to new residents kit' that includes civil defence information.
The grant money also went towards a successful event at the weekend - Dig Central - which included an archaeological exploration of an old dairy farm in Houghton Valley, as well as their own version of the 'Antiques Road Show'.
The next round of Community Preparedness Grants is for events that take place after 14 May. For information on the criteria and to download the application form, see:
Applications are due by 5.00pm, Friday 30 March.
