Meeting 91 people over 3 days of appointments in Shenzen, China alongside many of New Zealand's leading tourism operations, Ziptrek's Trent Yeo is excited at how fast the Asian markets are developing.

''As part of Tourism New Zealand's China Mission we're showcasing New Zealand to markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. We are offering our products to maturing and mammoth tourism markets. Tourism joins the dairy industry in being incredibly important to New Zealand's economy and there is much direct economic benefit for New Zealand and Queenstown by engaging here.

Following the trade event, Trent Yeo and NZONE's Derek Melnick are to experience life as visitors to China's domestic tourism hotspots to try and understand what Chinese people want from being a visitor.

"It seems to us very important to spend time in popular Chinese resorts, to engage in their environment and learn about why they travel and what they love about it. We need to understand this new market if we are to successfully host these people."

Mr Yeo is looking forward to TRENZ being staged by the Tourism Industry Association in Queenstown in May.

"It will be a great opportunity to follow up the appointments that we have in Shenzen, China.''
