The weather is forecasted to be an absolute stunner all over New Zealand this Sunday March 18, so grab your gumboots and head to one of Federated Farmers six Farm Days. The free event is a great fun day out for the whole family and gives people the chance to see what really goes on, on-farm. Farm Day starts at 10am and goes to 3pm, with the exception of Wellington’s which begins at 10.30am.

“This year’s event is all about getting people onto a farm,” says Bruce Wills, Federated Farmers President.

“Get your family and friends together and come and see where the source of New Zealand’s economy is produced. Farm Day is all about correcting the misconceptions about farming.

“We have a great range of activities at all six Farm Days this year, ranging from Fonterra tankers, to petting zoos, to sheep shearing and cows being milked.

“All of our six locations are easily accessible with free on site parking.

“At Auckland Farm Day there’ll be working farm dogs, sheep and even shearing demonstrations. We’ve got calves and even donkeys so it’s a great way to experience farming.

“At the Bay of Plenty Farm in Papamoa there will be a walking trail to help illustrate how dairy farmers responsibly manage nutrients and livestock.

“In Rotorua there will be shearers shearing sheep and a spinner spinning the wool into yarn. For budding vets there will be a pregnancy scanner on show and a range of fun activities hosted by local veterinarians.

“At the Manawatu Farm Day there’ll be a milking platform on show.
“In Wellington there will be some real characters for the children to look out for like Rocket a Romney Ram and Battle Hill’s 100 strong herd of goats who are biological weed killers.

“At Christchurch Farm Day there’ll be sheep trails with working farm dogs, shearing demonstrations with displays of wool and a bouncy castle.
“Make you sure you don’t miss this great opportunity. Take your family to the Farm Day near you,” concludes Mr Wills.
