Last call for Auckland's draft 10-year plan submissions
Aucklanders have until Friday afternoon to have their say on proposals in Auckland Council's draft Long-term Plan (2012- 2022) (LTP).
2800 submissions were received during the first three weeks of the public consultation, covering dog registration fees, rates, transport strategy and wastewater tariffs. Traditionally the bulk of submissions come in the final week.
The draft LTP outlines the council's prioritised projects, activities and budgets for the next 10 years.
Proposals include a new unified rating system for Auckland and a transition policy to move people to their new rates over time; increases to some regulatory fees and charges, transport initiatives and local board agreements.
Also closing this Friday are submissions on Auckland Transport's draft Regional Land Transport Programme (RLTP) and feedback on council's discussion document on alternative funding for transport - Getting Auckland Moving, which asks for the public's opinions on options for plugging the funding gap and building the transport infrastructure Auckland needs.
Around 280 submissions have been received on the draft RLTP with public transport, the City Rail Link, Waitemata Harbour crossing and the airport corridor among popular submission points.
Over the past three weeks the council has held more than 80 public meetings and events including an information roadshow at shopping malls, markets and community events, and meetings with the Mayor, councillors and local board members.
Mayor Len Brown reminds people who haven't made a submission on any aspect of the LTP or the alternative transport discussion document yet to do so over the next few days.
"We need your feedback on the projects we focus on during the next decade and on how we fund them. This is a very important moment for Auckland as we work to create the world's most liveable city. We need your thoughts on how we best achieve that."
Submissions on all three documents close at 4pm on Friday, 23 March.
