Update of road works on V8 track
The following roads works are scheduled to be undertaken during the period of Wednesday 31 October to Tuesday 19 November as part of the programme of works preparing the track for the Hamilton 400 V8 Supercars street race to be held in Hamilton 18–20 April 2008.
Lake Road/King Street
The roundabout is being removed, the road reshaped (chicane shape), realignment of underground services and the installation of a removable roundabout.
Mid week the road surface will be resealed
Followed by road markings, kerbing and traffic island fixtures.
Work is being conducted a night to reduce impact on traffic movement, however, restricted access through the intersection continues. The traffic management plan is working well –however, traffic should expect at times significant delays and should avoid the intersection where possible. Expected completion date 19 November.
King/High Street track run off
Construction just started. Traffic can expect heavy earth moving trucks in the area. Impact on normal traffic flow likely to be minor. Expected completion date 19 November.
Mill Street
Pit lane – The construction of pit lane is a major project. Completion is expected to be in January 2008. Preparation earthworks are progressing well. Pit lane is being constructed off the carriageway and a safety barrier has been put in place at the roadside. As it is a worksite the area is no longer accessible to the public.
Seddon Road/Mill Street – Seddon Road on the south side of the Mill Street intersection is closed to traffic (on to and off Mill Street) until further notice. Residents can still access this section of Seddon Road from the Norton Road/King Street (Founders Theatre) Roundabout.
Norton Road/King Street (Founders Theatre) Roundabout
Major works to reduce the size of the roundabout will begin from the 1 November. Most of the work will be done off the road within the roundabout perimeter, however, traffic should expect some disruption, including traffic management and redirection, please approach with care.
