BERL Report Reflects A Growing Region
The recently released 2011 BERL Regional Rankings identifies Tasman and Nelson as taking opportunities not losing them.
The annual report shows both Tasman and Nelson continuing their climb to the top of the regional economic rankings with each area moving up the table ten places to 11th and 19th respectively (out of 66).
This climb is measured against population, employment and GDP growth, reflecting the previous recent announcements from Statistics NZ consistently placing Tasman and Nelson in the top three in New Zealand in economic and population growth.
“Much of this success is generated by the respective communities, businesses and people within each area getting on with the opportunities presented to them and in many cases turning those opportunities into success”, said Tasman Mayor Richard Kempthorne.
“There have been trying times, and we are certainly not out of the woods yet, but the fact our people are continuing to invest in their areas shows that far from losing opportunities, we are creating them for ourselves.”
