Call for pool plan feedback
The council is seeking feedback on three concept plans it has prepared for the upgrade of Petone’s McKenzie pool.
Council divisional manager Marcus Sherwood says all three options will cost more or less the same - $2.2 million – and will require a lot of that money to be spent replacing pumps and other machinery as well as refurbishing the main pool and learner’s pool.
All three options get upgraded changing rooms, entranceway and BBQ area. However, option one features a spa pool, compared with option two’s spray park. Option three has neither, instead featuring a main pool that is five metres longer.
The deadline for feedback is April 20, after which a final design will be finalised.
The pool upgrade forms part of the 2012-22 long-term plan, which will itself go out for public consultation in mid-April.
