HAMILTON

Hamiltonians are being reminded to share their views on the city’s proposed roadmap for the coming decade, by the submission closing date of Thursday 19 April.

The city’s 2012-22 draft 10-Year Plan which opened for public consultation on 19 March, proposes a financial strategy which caps debt levels, fixes rate rises and returns the city to a balanced budget.
During the month long consultation, all households in the city were sent a summary booklet, a range of community information events were held across the city, and online, print and radio promotion was used to encourage residents to share their views on the draft Plan.

As at Friday 13 April, close to 140 written submissions had been received, with 20 people requesting to share their views in person at hearings during the week of 14-18 May.

Following hearings, Council will meet on 29 and 30 May to deliberate on what should be in the final Plan. It will then be formally adopted on 29 June, and takes effect from 1 July.
