PALMERSTON NORTH

Specialist zoological architects from Studio Hansen-Roberts will be visiting Palmerston North next week to prepare a concept plan for the construction of a rehabilitation aviary for Victoria Esplanade.

The new rehabilitation aviary will see many native birds such as the falcon, takahē and kiwi spend the final part of their recovery process in the Victoria Esplanade rehabilitation aviaries after treatment in Massey University's New Zealand Wildlife Health Centre, before being released back into the wild.

The new facility, which is to be a joint venture between the Council and Massey University, will include a high quality education centre and it is planned to be completed in 2013.

The architects are interested in hearing a range of views on the design elements that the public wish to see in this unique facility:

WHEN:           Wednesday 18 April between 4pm - 7pm

WHERE:        Esplanade Education Centre

While in Palmerston North the architects from Studio Hansen-Roberts will consult with Palmerston North City Council, Massey University, Department of Conservation, New Zealand Wildlife Health Centre and Rotary.

The architects will also spend time with the various stakeholders and technical experts involved with the project including Rangitāne, other iwi representatives and school teachers.
