Southland executive looking forward to tackling important issues
Federated Farmers national president Bruce Wills attended a meeting in Invercargill yesterday with the Federated Farmers Southland executive to resolve a provincial leadership issue.
“The current provincial president Hugh Gardyne has been strongly censured over concerns that he was not appropriately representing the views of his Southland membership,” Federated Farmers national president Bruce Wills says.
“Southland has some very complicated environmental issues to deal with and we need Federated Farmers to be working as a united team to help find workable solutions.
“Mr Gardyne will continue as Southland’s provincial president until the province’s Annual General Meeting on 9 May.
“The meeting yesterday allowed the Southland executive members to agree on a way forward and they will again be able to focus on the important issues of Federated Farmers,” Mr Wills concluded.
