Mayor Ray Wallace was greated with enthusiasm and lots of probing questions when he called into Petone Central Primary School to visit children at the Kids on Foot school holiday programme.

Programme director Lealofi Fuataga said the holiday programme aims to expand community involvement by the children. Kids on Foot has been involved in fund raising for charitable causes and recently raised money for a child suffering leukemia in a Splash and Dash day in Wainuiomata. Through school holiday and after school programmes, Kids on Foot provides community-based experiences, she said.

Children at the programme wanted to know everything about the Mayor's Office - how did he get his Mayoral chain, where he lived and how he became Mayor. "It was a lot of fun," said the Mayor. They were all so well behaved and asked such great questions, I was very impressed."
