The search is on for outstanding Auckland Central businesses to celebrate their success in the Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards.

The 2012 Awards were launched last night (Thursday 19 April) and entries are now open. This year’s event follows the success of the inaugural Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards in 2011 and Auckland Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Michael Barnett says the benchmark is set very high.

“These awards are a vital part of building growth in Auckland Central and I’m delighted to celebrate and recognise businesses which constantly work to enhance Auckland Central’s competitive advantage.”

Westpac Bank General Manager – Business Banking Ian Blair says last year’s inaugural awards were incredibly valuable because they encouraged Auckland Central businesses, both big and small, to recognise their own hard work and achievements.

“We’re looking forward to building on that in 2012 by again supporting these prestigious awards and helping showcase Auckland’s thriving business community.”

Businesses have until Friday 29 June to enter the 2012 Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards. Categories for 2012 are:

  • Excellence in Innovation (sponsored by Office Max)
  • Excellence in Workplace Safety (sponsored by ACC)
  • Excellence in Marketing
  • Best Emerging Business (sponsored by Telecom Business Hub)
  • Excellence in Exporting (sponsored by Ports of Auckland)
  • Excellence in Service Delivery (sponsored by RSM Prince Chartered Accountants)
  • Excellence in Retail (sponsored by The New Zealand Herald)
  • Excellence in Business Leadership (sponsored by MARSH).

The Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award winner will be selected from the winners of the eight categories.

Entry into the awards is open to businesses which have their offices within Auckland Central as defined by the old Auckland City boundaries. Entry is free and assistance (at no cost) is available for businesses to help in preparing their entries.

Category winners and the overall winner will be announced at a black-tie Gala Dinner on Friday 2 November at the Langham Hotel, Auckland.
