Kordia has launched a new service giving New Zealand businesses the most direct access possible to Microsoft’s cloud-based applications, enabling enhanced productivity and collaboration.

Located in Singapore, the Microsoft Office 365 data centre traditionally had New Zealand traffic routed through the US. However, tests conducted by Kordia’s customers has shown that data going through the new ‘low latency’ route was, on average, at least 40 percent faster than the previous service.

Drew Gilpin, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Kordia, says businesses shouldn’t have to put up with second-best when it comes to internet connectivity and cloud-based application performance, just because of New Zealand’s location.

“As the only telco in New Zealand dedicated to business, we’re always looking for better ways to deliver partner services like Microsoft Office 365 and Lync. Our new data route provides the best user experience possible, and further demonstrates the benefits of cloud-based applications to companies thinking about adopting these services.”

Microsoft Partner Strategy Lead Brent Colbert says Office 365 delivers feature-rich productivity applications as familiar Microsoft Office services. Subscription services relieve the burden of managing and maintaining systems and ‘free up’ IT departments and businesses so they can focus on initiatives that can deliver true competitive advantage.

“Any company looking to make the most of cloud based applications, like the Office 365 service Lync Online for voice and video, needs to ensure their network provider delivers the quality of service best suited for their business requirements,” says Colbert.  “With New Zealand partners like Kordia investing to improve the performance and experience of accessing cloud services, this is enabling local companies to become smarter, more connected and ultimately more competitive.”

Further to the Asian transit route, Kordia has also invested in a managed point to point circuit into Singapore. Due to go live later this month, it will further enhance the customer experience of any cloud based service hosted in Singapore.
