A rise in some fees and charges is proposed in council’s draft Long Term Plan.

The increases are intended to ensure council recovers the full cost of delivering its services or, in some cases, to ensure parity with charges by other councils in the region. The rises relate to animal services, official information requests, archival requests, the supply of property information, hall hire, environmental health services, library inter-loans, the use of sports fields and parks and trade waste. They apply to only a fraction of the charges applied throughout the council’s various areas of operation. Consultation on the draft Long Term Plan is open till May 16.
