Rodney Police Seize Cash, Drugs & Weapons
A 39 year old male will appear in the North Shore District Court today on serious drug and weapons related charges after an incident at Dairy Flat prior to dawn on Anzac Day.
Police say at 3.40am yesterday Wednesday 25 April 2012 the man was observed to be the driver of a vehicle that was acting suspiciously while travelling on State Highway 17 Dairy Flat. Police eventually stopped the vehicle near Pine Valley Road where the driver was subsequently arrested and taken to Orewa station for questioning.
A search of the offender’s car and bags then revealed a bonanza of cash, drugs and weapons. In the man’s bag police located a quantity of methamphetamine, almost 12,000 NZD in cash, and other items. A taser stun gun disguised as a cell phone was in the bag. This is a restricted weapon.
When searching the alleged offender’s motor vehicle there was another bag in the boot of the car. This contained $170,000 NZD in cash, a loaded 9mm pistol and additional ammunition nearby. Pre-cursor chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were also found in the vehicle. In the offender’s home there were more drugs discovered.
Rodney Police & Detectives plus the specialist Clan Lab team were all involved in the apprehension of this male offender. The man has been charged with Possession for Supply of Methamphetamine, possession of a pistol, possession of a restricted weapon and failing to stop for police on demand. Further charges are likely.
