Balmoral Police want help identifying a young woman found in the Tay Street Reserve, Western Springs, at 7am on Thursday morning [April 26].

She's possibly a Polynesian aged between 17 and 25, although she had no identification documents on her when found.

Constable Matthew Murray says inquiries in the area over the past 24 hours have not come up with any leads that would assist Police to identify her.

"The young woman is of medium build, weighs about 70 kilos and has shoulder-length black hair that was tied up.

"She has a distinctive religious tattoo on her right forearm and was wearing a pink tee shirt, navy blue track pants, white ankle socks and black Nike, 'Emax' shoes. She was also wearing a brown anklet on her right ankle and white rosary beads around her neck."

Police have not had any reports of missing persons that fit the young woman's description but are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they might know who she is and where she's from so that she can be reunited with her family.

Anyone with information or concerns about a missing family member, friend or work colleague should contact Constable Matthew Murray at Balmoral Police on 09 6311 032 or e-mail matthew.murray@police.govt.nz
