Further preliminary results of a post-mortem examination on the body of 64 year old Epuni bus driver Herman Curry indicate he died as a result of a medical condition.

Police were called to the Waterloo Interchange Bus Depot around 10pm on Friday, where Mr Curry was found. CPR was performed by Ambulance staff but sadly he died at the scene.

Acting Wellington District Crime Services Manager Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson says Police are continuing to make enquiries into Mr Curry's death which will be referred to the Coroner in due course.

"Two males, aged 15 and 16 years have been referred to Youth Aid in relation to a theft of Mr Curry's cash box. A 20 year old man has appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court this morning charged with theft. He has been granted interim name suppression and  remanded until 15 May.  A 17 year old will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court on Thursday 3 May, also charged with theft. No further charges are likely to be laid against any of these persons at this time."

"We appreciate that the community had concerns over the weekend that Mr Curry was the victim of an assault. We are pleased that the preliminary results of the post-mortem examination have brought some closure to Mr Curry's family as they come to terms with his loss. Police will continue to provide ongoing support to the family at this time."

Detective Inspector Thomson says there are still a number of enquiries being made by Police this week. We remain interested in the movements of a blue-coloured Toyota Previa in the area of Cudby and Pohutukawa Streets on Friday evening, between 9:30pm and 10:30pm.

"We're also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle on Saturday morning at the northern end of Te Whiti Park near the Waiwhetu Stream and the bridge that crosses from Riverside Drive to Te Whiti Park."

Anyone with any information should contact the investigation team on a free phone number which has been set up. That number is 0800 OP WATER (0800) 679 928).

Detective Inspector Thomson says given enquiries are now being made on behalf of the Coroner, Police will not be making any further comment in relation to Mr Curry's death at this time.
