WELLINGTON CITY

Police are advising Wellingtonians to be aware of central city road closures tomorrow as the Aotearoa Not for Sale (ANFS) hikoi marches from Te Papa to Parliament grounds at lunchtime.

Wellington Police District Inspector Simon Perry says Police are expecting a large number of people to take part in the hikoi and are closing some central city roads from 11:00am to protect the safety of the marchers, including the elderly and young children.

"From 11:00am tomorrow, roads including Wakefield Street, Willis Street and Lambton Quay will be closed to vehicles. The roads will remain open to foot traffic during this time."

Inspector Perry says the hikoi will leave Te Papa at midday and will march slowly to Parliament grounds. Motorists need to be aware of the road closures and plan to find alternative routes during this time.

"It's likely these roads will be closed for at least two hours. We urge motorists to be patient during this time."
