QUEENSTOWN

Two rivers, twice the excitement, an hour of sheer power -- Queenstown’s Kawarau Jet has re-branded as K Jet to reflect a ‘once in a lifetime’ ride of speed, spins and spectacular scenery.

Established in 1960 and still locally owned and operated, K Jet is firmly stamping its mark as Queenstown’s ultimate Jet boating experience.

“Our trips really do have it all, and everything about our new logo, imagery, website and brochures backs that up,” said K Jet Sales and Marketing Manager Melinee Kong.

“We talked to our customers and listened to our staff, and the end result is a whole new look and style that tells people we offer thrills and adrenalin, with 360-degree spins and sheer rock faces.

“We’re the only Jet boat company in Queenstown offering an hour-long trip covering 43km through the crystal-clear waters of Lake Wakatipu, the Kawarau and Shotover rivers.

“It’s an hour of sheer power on the best boats in the district, real Jet boating with real, down-to-earth, friendly and welcoming local drivers,” she said.

K Jet Director Shaun Kelly said K Jet passengers stepped back onto the Pier in Queenstown Bay feeling they’d received fantastic value for money and had had a more personal, authentic experience.

“We’re renowned for being very family friendly and people love the fact that we take the time to stop, get closer to nature, talk about some of the history of the rivers and the area, and they feel they’re been really looked after,” he said.

Operating from a Pier in the heart of the resort in Queenstown Bay meant it was easy for passengers to jump straight onto one of the Jet boats without having to travel by bus to their departure point.

“That’s the joy of operating from the lake,” said Mr Kelly. “The experience kicks in from the moment they get on the Jet boat, and when they get back they’re in the restaurant and retail heart of the town, or an easy stroll from their accommodation.”

Mr Kelly said the new logo represented speed and spins, and described it as “dynamic”.

“In the past I think some visitors have thought we don’t offer the adrenalin rush of full spins and hair-raising swoops past sheer rock faces or river banks, when in fact we always have,” he said.

“If there’s only one Jet boat ride visitors do in New Zealand, it should be with K Jet.”
