Hutt Valley Police have arrested two people in relation to an alleged methamphetamine supply ring, following information received from the public.

Tactical Coordinator Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood says Police executed search warrants at addresses in Waiwhetu and Newlands this morning and as a result, two people aged in their late 30's have been arrested and charged.

"Members of the Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) were used at one address and members of the Police Support Unit (PSU) at the other. We were able to carry out these warrants because of valuable information that we received from the public regarding suspicious activity."

Senior Sergeant Harwood says, "We want to encourage that flow of information to continue through to local stations or through Crimestoppers.”

A 37 year old female and a 38 year old male have been jointly charged with selling methamphetamine and conspiring to sell methamphetamine and will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court this afternoon.

"Police across the Hutt Valley are continuing to target people who deal in these drugs, we expect further charges to be laid in relation to these two people and we will continue actively targeting drug dealers and organised criminals. Today's arrests are part of our ongoing commitment to the fight against methamphetamine."

Anyone who has any information they wish to share with Police can do so via the Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
