Timetable changes on some Metro bus routes

Metro users will need to check bus timetables as from Tuesday 5 June there will be some time changes on several routes.

Environment Canterbury Passenger Services Manager David Stenhouse says “A key to the effective rebuilding of Christchurch is an efficient operating network of public transport which best meets the community’s needs.

“We regularly review our services and adjust their capacity to make sure we have the most effective use of bus resources. However, decreased patronage as a result of the earthquake and the loss of passengers into the CBD, have produced financial challenges which need to be addressed. So careful analysis has identified routes which are not well-patronised, and we will be changing their frequency of service, mostly in off-peak periods and weekends.

“We are trying not to adversely affect anyone and believe most passengers will not notice much difference to their services

Affected routes are: 9 Wairakei, 23 Hyde Park to Woolston; 28 Lyttelton and Rapaki; 45 North Shore; 46 Marshland and 60 Parklands.

Timetable changes
