Female Physically Assaulted In New Lynn
Waitakere Police are investigating a needless physical assault on a female in New Lynn. They are appealing to the public for information about the identity and whereabouts of a male who they believe can assist them with their enquiries into this exceedingly aggressive incident.
Police say that the alleged assault occurred in the vicinity of a nightclub on Great North Road in New Lynn between 0300 and 0430 hours on Sunday 20 May 2012. A young male has approached the victim and led her to the rear of nearby buildings where the victim has been subjected to strangulation and punching. She suffered severe bruising to her eyes and cuts to the nose. She is recovering.
Police have issued a detailed description of the offender.
• Male, Pacific Islander,
• Height - Approximately 172 cm
• Stated that he was 25yrs old,
• Young looking face / baby face
• Athletic build, described as having a "six pack" stomach.
• Short curly black hair cut close to his head
• Wearing fitted black T-shirt, and jeans
• His manner was described as arrogant and self assured.
• The victim’s cell phone and Sony walkman have both been stolen
The offender may have several marks on either side of his face and neck area as a result of being scratched by the victim as she defended herself. The attacker has then run off towards Great North Road.
