A range of businesses and the city’s dog owners can expect their annual renewal registration notice from mid June, with dog owners this year able to register online for the first time.

Renewal registrations for the city’s 10,000 registered dogs, and food premises registrations, along with public places permits for outdoor dining, footpath signs, mobile shops and merchandise display will be available mid June.

The new online dog registration facility via the Council’s website www.hamilton.co.nz from 18 June will allow owners to register their dog online as well as paying the annual fee by credit card at the same time. A discount will apply for those who register and pay before 15 July. Registration categories have been simplified this year to allow more to be able to pay the minimum annual fee.

The new 2012/13 fees which will apply to dog registrations and food premises, regulated businesses and holders of public places permits will be determined by Council during deliberations on the city’s 10-Year Plan on June 6 and 8.

City Safe Unit Manager Elton Parata said: “We’re pleased to now offer an online registration and payment service for the city’s dog owners and expect many to take advantage of this facility because of the convenience and time saving it offers.

“It’s also a busy time ahead for annual registrations for many of the city’s businesses and I urge and thank them in advance for promptly reregistering their business for the coming year once they receive their registration notice in mid-June.”
