At about 5.30pm on Tuesday 29th of May 2012 a female Chinese student and recent arrival to New Zealand got off a bus on Blockhouse Bay Road at the intersection with Margate Road, Blockhouse Bay.

Near the intersection with Miranda Street she was approached by a male who recognised that she was lost.

The student accepted a lift from the male who had his car parked on Blockhouse Bay Road adjacent to Miranda reserve.

The male has then driven the victim away from her intended destination to Connaught Street opposite Craig Avon Park in Green Bay. At this location he has indecently assaulted her and attempted to detain her in the vehicle.

The student has been able to exit the vehicle and the male has driven off.

The male was described as a Caucasian in his 20's with short dark brown wavy hair and an unshaven appearance.

The vehicle he was driving was a white 4 door vehicle with a loud engine. The registration plate is believed to have ended with numerals similar to '981'.

It is unknown whether the male has a connection to Blockhouse Bay or was passing through and identified the victim was in need of assistance.

The Waitakere Police CIB are concerned about the serious nature of the attack and are asking people who believe they recognise the male or vehicle to contact them urgently with any information.
