The Green Party is holding its AGM over the upcoming Queen's Birthday weekend. The theme is "Growing the Greens".

Highlights include keynote speeches from Co-leaders Metiria Turei on Sunday 3 June at 11.30am and Russel Norman on Monday 4 June at 11.45am.

"The 2011 election result was the best ever for the Green Party. Our focus since the election has been developing our new team and taking on a bigger part of the opposition. Our focus moving forward is expansion," said Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei.

"This parliamentary term we have a dual focus of being an effective opposition to the Government, while also promoting positive ideas such as the successful home insulation scheme and setting out an alternative vision for New Zealand," said Mrs Turei.

"The 2011 election campaign increased our pool of members and volunteers and the number of New Zealanders we directly communicate with. This term is about maximising the participation of those people in the political process," said Green Party Co-leader Dr Russel Norman.

"The CIR campaign to stop the asset sales is just one example of where we are coordinating party members, supporters, volunteers and the general public in our activities. Campaigning on key issues is central to being an effective opposition and alternative government in waiting," said Dr Norman.
