MARLBOROUGH

Winter is pretty much here with leaves dropping and already a number of frosts. Now is the time to drive even more carefully than you usually do and take time to clear windscreens of ice and dew.

Marlborough Roads’ contractors are currently clearing leaves from pavements and are awaiting the final leaf drop before finishing the clean up. If you require some urgent clearing of leaves please ring the Marlborough Roads office.

Already this winter two applications of the anti-icing agent Calcium magnesium Acetate (CMA) have been applied to some selected sections of highway. CMA is relatively inert and causes neither damage to the environment nor corrosion to vehicles. Marlborough Roads staff are required to monitor adjacent waterways to be sure there is no effect on stream ecology. This monitoring is currently underway.

Roundabout Construction

Contractors have completed all the kerbing for the new roundabout at the intersection of High Street and Alfred Street. The revised road-marking is about to be completed then only the new stone pavers need to be laid to finish these works. Marlborough Roads were able to get a contractor to start the main works early but unfortunately there is a delay with supply of the stone so final completion will not be for another few weeks.
