Chinese delegation looks to Bay for fresh opportunities
Bay of Plenty Polytechnic hosted a high profile Chinese delegation from Anhui Science and Technology University at the Windermere Campus last Friday.
The delegation, lead by Mr Wang Yuanhong, was interested in opportunities for Chinese students to study the diploma and degree pathways offered through the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and University of Waikato tertiary partnership. Of particular interest to the delegation were the ESOL, Business, Engineering and Environmental programmes.
The delegation noted the Polytechnic’s international reputation as a provider of tertiary teaching excellence with the institution having received two coveted National Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards and achieving an enviable 80% student completion rate.
Richard van der Jagt, Polytechnic Business Development Manager, commented “Our guests really enjoyed the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of the range of learning activities and programmes that Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and the Tertiary Partnership offers its students and the opportunity this could offer to Chinese students from Anhui.”
While at the Windermere Campus the delegation also toured the Titanium Industry Development Associations (TiDA) research and engineering facilities before heading into the CBD to explore the Polytechnic’s Business School at the Bongard Centre with the University of Waikato’s Partnership and Liaison Manager, Dr. Nigel Calder.
