Savvy Steve Builds Up Winning Record

All fantastic studs, fantastic racing stables in their own right. They all have one common feature in horse preparation, Cambridge-based equine physio Savvy Steve (Cleary).
Savvy. It means to have the knowing and the knowledge, to have the “touch”. It’s something we should strive for in our daily life and its something that “magic hands” “Mr fix it” or Savvy Steve, as he is known in the industry definitel,y has.

His list of winners and place getters that he works his magic on go from Group One level all the way down and is a “who’s who”. Just some of this season’s highlights are the winners of the New Zealand Derby, the Victoria Derby and almost every regional cup in between. A real highlight was the quinella for Shaun Ritchie and The Oaks Stud in the New Zealand Oaks with Zurella and Artistic.
What makes him so good? Savvy has an incredible knowledge of bio mechanics and using a range of different techniques over the years has developed what he believes is a complete system, the Savvy Touch! Its 100% hands on and incredible to watch the change in the horse right in front of you.
“What I do it’s an absolute passion I view horses as nature in its purest form and to be able to work as closely and intimately as I do with them, to have them place their trust in me is a privilege, nothing makes me smile like arriving seeing an angry, agitated horse from pain quickly allowing me to work deeply on it, get an adjustment and to see the whole personality and body change right then, it’s awesome!”
Savvy Steve says the best thing he is seeing in the industry now is finally the understanding for the horses to be treated like the athletes they are. He is being used on a regular basis to maintain the bodies at their peak not just to repair them after injury and he has vets recommending his services.
Tauranga trainer Jim Pender is a good example. He had spent eight months and thousands of dollars on vets and others before a vet said: “Mate I have no idea you need to get Savvy over, it was sorted in 2 sessions, I love that”!
To assist his work Savvy uses his own range of products while working on the horses. The main one of these is the Savvy Touch Ligament and Tendon Cooling gel which literally rips inflammation out and is now widely used by all clients as a main stay product on all joint, tendon and muscular issues.
