Anouk Den Breems & Sharks Sports Bar Going To New Heights

Anouk den Breem’s passion for the hospitality industry began 20 years ago and has now led to her role as owner and operator of the very popular Orewa-based Sharks Sports Bar & Function Centre – a sponsor of this year’s Rugby World Cup volunteer reunion.

“My passion for the hospitality industry began 20 years ago when I started working in kitchens in Europe as a dishwasher,” Den Breems says.

“I watched, travelled and learned everything there was to learn about the hospitality industry and then started as a chef 15 years ago,” she said.

Den Breems bought a small café and catering company and after a year decided to focus on the on-site or off site catering.

“We have now achieved a complete package with a bar function centre and catering service all in one,” she said.

Den Breems says Sharks Sports Bar & Function Centre is a one stop service and caters for weddings, on or off site catering, corporate meetings, celebrations, private chef hire, dinner parties, funerals, hampers, champers and cake decorating.

“Anyone that requires quality catering can come to us no matter what their budget or need,” she said.

“We are competitively priced and we have a very passionate and skilled team who have years of experience in all areas of the industry. No job is too big or too small for us.”

Anouk says looking at the catering business as a passion is very important. “We put our heart and soul into all of what we do and absolutely love it.”

“We have been slowly growing and expanding our business from owning a small town café and catering facility to nowadays owning an all-in-one bar, catering and function centre – it’s the full package.”

Den Breens has been a finalist twice in the annual Manakitange Hospitality awards and was part of the team last year which assisted with the Rugby World Cup which bought a lot of contacts and ideas with it to Sharks Sports Bar & Function Centre.
