A new group is underway in Redwoodtown that offers older people the chance to get out and mix with others, catch up with familiar faces or meet someone new, perhaps learn a new skill or just enjoy the social contact.

Meeting at St Christopher’s Hall, the group is still in its formative stages but organiser Wendy Reynolds says more than 80 people turned up at the first meeting. She is keen to arrange a programme of speakers and workshops.

Four Marlborough Boys’ College students were there to help teach people how to deal with their cell phones – a learning activity which proved very popular and will be repeated.

The next gathering will be 10.00 am to 1.30 pm on Thursday 21 June. Everyone is welcome and free morning tea and lunch are served.

Transport can be arranged for those who need help getting to the hall. Call Wendy on Ph: 03 579 1133.
