BLENHEIM

There are 14 public toilets serving urban Blenheim, seven of them in the CBD and two more just outside the town centre near the Railway Station. The newest is the one at the Alfred Street parking building, easily accessed from the High Street entrance to the parking building.

The oldest of the town centre’s public loos is the High Street facility. It’s not accessible to people with disabilities, it generates most of the complaints to Council and it’s costing well over $6000 a year to maintain due to both vandalism and repairs.

But Councillors are reluctant to see it removed as it is easily accessible to people using the riverside walkway through town.

However, in the long term, the High Street toilet will have to be replaced by new amenities – the location and scale is still a matter to be resolved.

A list of all public conveniences across Marlborough is available on the Council website in the About Marlborough section.
