Labour expresses condolences for ASCS Delamere

Labour’s Defence spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway today expressed sympathy following news of the death of Royal New Zealand Navy sailor, William Paratini Delamere.

It is understood Able Seaman Combat Specialist Delamere was involved in a scooter accident while on leave in Rarotonga.

“Any loss of life is tragic and my thoughts are with the family, friends and comrades of this young man,” Iain Lees-Galloway said.

“The Defence Force is a close-knit bunch and losing a colleague and friend, whether on the job or on leave, will be difficult for many to bear.

“My heartfelt sympathy and condolences are with those in Rarotonga and at home who knew ASCS Delamere.

“I want to recognise his contribution and the contribution of all of our servicemen and woman who are often working and living far from their loved ones at home,” Iain Lees- Galloway said.
