Hi there guys,

It’s nice to be back home in new Zealand! But before I left Europe I packed a lot in. First I was in Italy testing my 2008 bike for two weeks. I’m happy to say we have made some good progress, well I should say Yamaha has because the new bike is awesome. After two weeks of testing I was a bit tired but it was work well done so I left Italy with a smile.

I also raced Mettet which went well to be honest. I didn’t expect to get on the podium as this was the first time I had ridden Super Moto since Mettet last year! But I seem to be getting the hang of it and my bike was really good so this helped.

The day before I flew out of Europe I raced the Weston Beach race. It was a bit of a mission because I had to leave the house in Belgium with all my stuff for Weston and Barrabool, the race I did a week later, and all the gear I needed for training while home over the summer! British Airways lost my bags from Brussels to London! Can you believe that… a forty minute flight and they lost them! After a three hour wait I was back on the road and looking forward to my first ever beach race. It went well I and I was happy with second. There were 1150 riders and it seemed like you were passing 5 guys every corner and two of them were crashing! I had a blast though and now I know how it works I’ll be back next year for sure.

I flew out of Europe straight to New Zealand and unpacked then re-packed and flew on to Australia for an international MX called the Oceania MX at Barrabool in Geelong Australia. I was a bit nervous for the race as it was my first proper MX since breaking my shoulder in Loket, but it went well. I won and had a good time. It was a team event with New Zealand verses Australia. Team NZ didn’t fair too well, but still it was a good track and good racing.

From there I went on holiday in Sydney for a week were I didn’t do much apart from eat, sleep and surf. The Friday before I went home I attended the ADB motorcycle awards. I was on the same table as Chad Reed. It was cool to catch up with him. Like me he was happy to be home as well. Now I’m back home on the farm and have been relaxing and getting my tracks ready to start riding again. It’s been nice to catch up with my family and friends but soon the hard work will begin as Stefan Nuesser, my trainer will soon arrive.

That’s it for now, I’ll check in again soon.

Cheers,

Josh
