Shaun Cosgrave: A very positive time to buy

One of New Zealand’s top real estate salespeople, Shaun Cosgrave believes it is a “very good time” to buy property in Hamilton, Waikato.

The 51-year-old said that after prices being flat for a while, there are a lot of first time buyers in the market place.

“[It is] because of the [current] interest rates and the fixed rates,” he said.

Media reports reported that fixed-interest rates are at “historic lows” as banks compete for best mortgage packages.

Cosgrave, who works in residential sales for Harcourts, says he is starting to see an increase in property investors.

“I’ve just done a contract on some properties myself – I’m getting back into the market place,” he said.

Having nearly 20 years real estate experience, Cosgrave was New Zealand’s top Harcourts salesperson for an unbroken 4 year stretch.

“In 2007 I got the Harcourts award for number one in the world through the Harcourts group.”

He then got into rural/lifestyle sales where he was ranked number one until last year when he decided to return to residential sales in the Hamilton area.

Cosgrave believes he is hard working and feels rewarded by the excitement of a young couple buying their first home.

“If you invite me to be the salesperson to sell your property I’ll put in every effort I possibly can to sell the property for you.

“I’ve got a team working for me – I’ve got Monique who does all my administration and advertising, and John works closely with our buyers, so we try to cover the whole field for everyone,” he said.
