MARLBOROUGH

Smart Business Marlborough is a central information source designed to help new businesses making a move to Marlborough. It will also provide a point of contact for any expanding local businesses needing access to Council-held information.

The new service is part of the work the Council is doing to build its economic development capacity. The aim is to help Marlborough become a ‘smart and connected’ region where business activity is in balance with our surroundings and quality of life.

Council wants to identify aspirations for the region so the regional economy can be developed in a way that will deliver on these aspirations. Feedback is still being sought but, so far, it’s been suggested that Marlborough needs to work toward becoming a place where:

We have clever, innovative businesses that are efficient, environmentally sensitive and successful in the international market

We have connections with overseas science and business organisations

There are well-planned and vibrant public spaces and beautiful and accessible natural spaces

Education and good quality employment with higher wages is available

Marlborough’s unique qualities and environment and sense of community are maintained.
