The Flying Moa's Le Long Dejuener for St John

The Flying Moa, one of Mt Wellington’s favourite locals, is holding its annual Le Long Dejeuner this Friday (13th July) in honor of Bastille Day - with all proceeds going to St John Northern region.

In its third year, Le Long Dejeuner, The Flying Moa’s French inspired Long Lunch, has become a must attend social event on everyone’s calendar, and this year’s event is definitely not to be missed. 

Lance Campbell, Director of The Flying Moa, is pleased to be involved with such a great organisation, “St John is an organisation that everyone needs, and with them being just around the corner they’re a great local charity for us to get behind.”

To celebrate this year, The Flying Moa Head Chef Vinu Pillai has created a special French inspired menu which has been matched perfectly with a selection of Monteith’s craft beers.

The afternoon not only includes fine French food matched with New Zealand’s best beer, but also has top entertainment with Crowd Goes Wild’s very own James McOnie as MC for the event. St John Auckland Central District Operations Manager John Takerei will be in attendance at Le Long Dejeuner, and will speak on behalf of St John ambulance service central Auckland area.

Throughout the afternoon there will be a raffle and silent auction with fantastic prizes donated by Panasonic, Heritage Hotels New Zealand and the Whitford Park Golf Club.

St John Northern Region General Manager, Gary Salmon, says proceeds from Le Long Dejeuner will be used to support the regional youth festival programme.  The initiative which involves young St John members , predominantly from the northern region, competing in first aid competitions and educational programmes.

“We are grateful for the generous offer from The Flying Moa to help raise money for St John.  As you might be aware, we receive funding from the government, however we still need, and rely on, community events such as this to help fund specific programs - which include community programmes” says Mr Salmon.
