The Taupō Museum is inviting the community to search their cupboards, attics, walls, jewellery boxes for original artwork, numbered prints and costume jewellery.

Do you have paintings or costume jewellery that have lost their appeal or don’t fit in with your redecorating or latest look, but you think someone else might enjoy them? Then Second Hanging is the exhibition for you.

Second Hanging provides a chance to sell and buy pre-loved paintings and costume jewellery and revive your art and costume jewellery collection.

Items are now being accepted at the Taupō Museum in preparation for the exhibition and sale from 1–25 September. The owners of the art can dictate the price they would like for their pieces but will remain anonymous when the work goes on display.

Taupō Museum has previously run two of these exhibitions, the last held four years ago, which received enthusiastic response from the public. “The exhibition is a lot of fun” says exhibitions officer Chris Potter. “The range of styles and media is always impressive. It is a great opportunity for people to reassess their possessions as well as make money from things they once loved but no longer need.”

The artwork and jewellery will be accepted at the Taupō Museum until 20 August. Original artwork and numbered prints only please.

Taupō Museum is open daily from 10.00am until 4.30pm
