Hastings welcomes 32 new citizens

Hastings will welcome 32 new New Zealanders at a citizenship ceremony to be held Wednesday August 1st, 2012, from 6pm in the Hastings District Council Chambers.

The candidates’ nationalities are as follows:

Filipino                        3

German                      1

Indian                          2

Irish                             2

Korean                        2

Samoan                      9

South African             5

A Kaumatua will welcome those present on behalf of tangata whenua.

Hastings District Council Councillors will present each candidate with a kowhai tree to symbolise “putting down roots”.
